Did you ever think about teaching your baby to use Sign Language? It really is a marvelous concept. Not only can it enhance bonding yourself and your baby, but a baby can learn Sign Language much sooner than he or she can speak words – oftentimes by several months! Wouldn’t it be marvelous to cut back on the child’s tantrums and frustration at home and away from home? You can make it happen by teaching your baby to “speak” to you in Sign language.

Say that your ten-month-old baby is thirsty and wants milk, certainly not juice and certainly not water. The baby begins to fuss. You begin the usual ritual of checking the status of the diaper; checking for the presence or absence of a fever; emptying the baby’s toy bag item by item, repeating “Do you want this?” You even offer the baby a bottle of juice – but the little one wails in disappointment and frustration when he or she realizes the bottle contains a drink that he or she affirmatively does NOT want. Now both you and the child, and everyone within earshot, are completely frazzled; the baby is in tears, and you yourself aren’t far behind.

All of this can be circumvented, even with a pre-verbal baby. All that the child would need to learn, and would have to do, is to give a Sign to you which you both recognize, and the result would be immediate communicationbetween yourself and the baby. You could go to the refrigerator and get the child the milk, and all would be peaceful again. Doesn’t that sound appealing?

Well, It actually is possible!
